Ricardo Fernandes is a Portuguese composer and musical director based in London.
His work as a composer has seen him gain commissions for a number of short and feature films, including multi-award-winning short film Retribution Day, as well as feature films Phatnav, God 2.0 and Trigger Down. His musical direction and performance work as also led him to prestigious cabaret venues such as the Phoenix Arts Club and The Pheasantry, a Pizza Express Live Venue.
As the resident musical director of the Mill Hill Musical Theatre Company, Ricardo has just finished his 4 th successful show, with a sold out run of Cole Porter’s Kiss me Kate. Other productions with the company include Guys and Dolls (2021), Music of the Knight (2021), an Andrew Lloyd Webber Revue show and Oklahoma! (2019).
Ricardo is currently studying at the Royal College of Music for a Master of Composition, where he is the recipient of a Royal College of Music Scholarship. He was also awarded a First Class Bachelor of Music in Film Music Composition by the University of West London.
Ricardo’s recent work has included collaborations with filmmakers from several London universities with his score for Serial Killers Anonymous being the runner up for “Best Score” at the London Southbank University Film Awards.
Being a passionate educator, Ricardo also works regularly as the Musical Director of Wokingham Youth Theatre, as well as the Temporary Choir Master of the Newbury division of Berkshire Maestros, teaching young musicians between the ages of 5 and 18.
